Philadelphia International Cricket Festival: A Guide to the Celebration

The Philadelphia International Cricket Festival is an annual Twenty20 celebration that brings local and visiting teams together across Philadelphia’s historic cricket grounds. More than 200 players from several countries take part over four days, according to the festival’s official website.
What is the Philadelphia International Cricket Festival?
The festival is played over the first weekend in May and is designed to promote cricket in the region while strengthening sporting ties between players from the United States and overseas. Matches take place at historic venues including Germantown Cricket Club, Philadelphia Cricket Club, Merion Cricket Club, Haverford College’s Cope Field and the Evansburg grounds. The Festival Trophy Cup final is held on the closing Sunday at Philadelphia Cricket Club.
When is Germantown hosting in 2027?
Germantown Cricket Club will host festival cricket at Manheim on April 30, May 1 and May 2, 2027. GCC will also welcome festival participants to a Saturday-night banquet in the historic clubhouse on May 1. Which famous cricketers have attended the festival?
The festival’s official celebrity archive records a remarkable group of past guests. They include Dennis Lillee, Michael Kasprowicz, Shaun Pollock, Jonty Rhodes, Deryck Murray, Sir Richard Hadlee, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sunil Joshi and Fred Trueman.

Cricket coaching at Germantown
That spirit of exchange has reached the Manheim ground as well. Cricket coaching has taken place on the Germantown Cricket Club premises with England international and World Cup winner Liam Plunkett and Philadelphians captain Corney, giving local players the benefit of elite experience close to home.
