Five drills to sharpen your batting before the season
Simple, repeatable drills you can do at nets or in the garden to be ready for the first fixture.
Pre-season is won in small repeatable sessions. These five drills need very little equipment and make a visible difference by the first match.
1. Shadow batting
Ten minutes of slow, deliberate shadow batting builds a repeatable trigger movement.
2. Underarm feeds
Ask a teammate for fifty underarm feeds and focus purely on hitting the ball under your eyes.
3. Tennis ball throwdowns
Sharpens reaction time and rewards a still head.
4. Single-stump target work
Defend a single stump for two minutes at a time to tighten your bat path.
5. Running between wickets
Turn both ways, call loudly, and practise the second run. Cheap runs win close games.
Bring these to our Nets & Skills night and a coach will help you refine them.
